President's word

The West African Development Bank, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in November 2023, is, like all multilateral development banks, called upon to play an increasingly structuring role in addressing the unprecedented challenges and opportunities that characterise the contemporary global context.
For this 1st edition of the BOAD DEVELOPMENT DAYS, the theme chosen: ‘Financing the energy transition and sustainable agriculture: challenges, opportunities and solutions’ will enable professionals, leaders and experts in the fields of agriculture and energy to discuss the challenges of universal access to electricity in the face of the demands of the energy transition, as well as the role of the agro-industry as a lever for food sovereignty in the WAEMU.
The issues at stake for the future of our planet, and a fortiori our region, are crucial and the challenges immense; there is an urgent need to mobilise all the driving forces of society to find sustainable and innovative solutions.

About BOAD Development Days
Why BOAD Development Days ?
During its 50th anniversary celebrations, the WADB organised a series of activities, including thematic workshops, under the banner of reflection and exchange, in the light of the central theme: "2023-2073: financing development differently, the WADB of the next fiftieth anniversary".
These workshops, which featured regional and international resource persons, laid the groundwork for in-depth discussions in the areas of agriculture and agro-industry, economic infrastructure (transport, digital, energy), social infrastructure and human capital, SMEs and resource mobilisation.
As a house of experts and solutions, invited and sought after for international events that set the agenda for the financial sector and development banks in particular, this major annual event will henceforth be a crucible for reflection and sharing of experiences by BOAD to better meet the challenges of the day.
